The study involves a single visit that takes about 2 hours. You can come in to one of our study sites or take part remotely, if your local GP is able to collect blood samples for us. The study will involve:
Your agreement (consent) to join in the study including review of your medical notes, completion of study questionnaires and donation of blood samples.
A blood sample from you and ideally another adult family member – please note that we will only make contact with other family members through you. We will ask for your permission to take, store and analyse a blood (or saliva) sample for genetic analysis.
Completion of questionnaires about your symptoms, family history and
environmental background.
Clinical examinations of your cognition, movement and balance, if possible at a study site.
The research work will be carried out anonymously and the information held will be confidential.
This is a research study so we will not be able to provide any individual results. However, we would like to keep you updated as to the progress of the research. You can opt to be notified if new gene tests are developed which might be relevant to you or your family. You can contact us at any time.
